maciej jakubowski

is a professor at the University of Warsaw, where he graduated with a degree in sociology and later received a doctorate in economic sciences. He also studied at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States and Ludwig and Maximilian University in Munich. He worked as a researcher at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the EUI in Florence. From 2008 to 2012, he was an analyst with the PISA team at the OECD in Paris.

From 2005 to 2008, he was a member of the research team of the Central Examination Commission, where he worked on educational added value. During these years, he also worked with CASE – Center for Social and Economic Analysis. In 2012, he was appointed undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Education, where he was responsible for strategy and financing. In 2014, he founded the Evidence Institute Foundation to promote the use of research in teaching practice and educational policy-making.

He is passionate about educational research, but also about communicating research-based teaching methods to teachers, students and parents. He has worked as a consultant with governments and international institutions such as the World Bank, OECD, UNESCO, UNDP and the European Commission. He is the author of dozens of scientific papers and many research reports and popularization works.
