The Minister of Education has appointed a new director of the Educational Research Institute. In place of Robert T. Ptaszek, Barbara Nowacka appointed Dr. Maciej Jakubowski, DSc in the social sciences, professor at the University of Warsaw.
Polish 15-year-olds maintain a high position in the world in terms of reading, mathematics and science knowledge and skills. In all three areas covered by the survey, our students' results are above the average for OECD countries. However, they are significantly lower than in the previous 2018 edition of the survey.
Polish eighth graders scored among the highest in terms of knowledge and understanding of civic issues among 20 countries. At the same time, students are characterized by low levels of trust in other people and institutions, and are critical of the functioning of the political system.
